There are shoes you can slip on for a morning coffee, take on a trip into the countryside, and pair with your evening outfit without a second thought. Blundstones are exactly that. They don’t conform to trends or any particular style. And that’s precisely why they’re so easy to pair with anything.
150 years on and still relevant
Blundstone was founded in Tasmania in 1870. Originally, they were work boots for people who needed something reliable for the whole day, whatever the weather or terrain. Today, more than 150 years later, the design has not changed in any significant way. The iconic Chelsea boot with elasticated sides, a sturdy sole and a leather upper – the basic construction principle has remained the same, but today it works just as naturally in an urban environment.
This continuity does not mean a lack of innovation. It is proof that some things are designed right from the start.
Today, the brand emphasises the durability of its products and a more responsible approach to manufacturing. You’re buying shoes that you won’t need to replace every season. And in today’s climate, that’s no small thing.
Why are Blundstones so light?
One of the things that always surprises customers when they first put them on is the weight. For leather boots, Blundstones are unusually light. This is no coincidence — the design combines premium leather materials with a lightweight TPU sole that absorbs shock without adding unnecessary weight.
The result is a shoe that feels significantly lighter than you might expect from sturdy leather footwear. That is precisely what makes them shoes that people wear time and again, not just on the odd occasion.
Styling: from spring to winter
Blundstones aren’t just for one season. They’ll last you all year round, provided you look after them properly.

Spring and summer are surprisingly natural seasons for Blundstone. Lighter-coloured styles go well with linen, straight-leg jeans and simple midi dresses. They don’t look too bulky even with lighter outfits; on the contrary, they often add a nice grounded feel.
Autumn is the season in which Blundstones feel most at home. The black or dark brown style works well with wool, denim and layered looks without needing much styling.
Blundstones are perfect for city life in winter. The leather upper can withstand typical city weather, provided it is regularly waterproofed, and the sturdier sole offers a secure grip even on slippery pavements. They go just as well with winter outfits as they do with autumn ones — layers, woollen accessories, and dark shades.
One thing remains true season after season: Blundstones simply work – you just slip them on and go. No fuss, no fuss. That’s precisely why they’re among the brands we select for Concept Story – quality that speaks for itself. You can read more about how we select brands for our range on our blog.
Blundstone has also become a favourite of our long-standing supporter, Táňa Pauhofová. Not as a trendy fashion accessory, but precisely for that combination of comfort, naturalness and timelessness that makes Blundstone the kind of shoe you keep coming back to. They’re practical without looking too technical, and they work just as well in the city as they do out in the countryside — which is exactly why so many of our customers have come to love them.
Caring for leather shoes: how to make them last longer

Blundstones don’t require complicated care, just regular attention. Leather is a material that reacts slowly to neglect – and to good care, too. You’ll only notice the difference after a few years, when one boot still looks as good as new and the other doesn’t.
After each wear, simply wipe the surface with a damp cloth and leave to dry at room temperature. The leather should not come into contact with direct heat; radiators or tumble dryers will not help. Waterproofing every few weeks – more frequently during autumn and winter wear – creates a protective layer that repels water and slows down the ageing of the material. Once a season, it is worth restoring the leather’s suppleness with a conditioner – apply it gently, allow it to soak in and buff to a shine.
The Blundstone Shoe Care Kit has been designed for this very purpose and is also available at Concept Story. It contains everything you need for regular leather care in a single set.
Blundstone children’s shoes: the same shoes, just smaller

Children grow quickly, and the long-forgotten rule of ‘buying cheaper because they’ll grow out of them’ doesn’t apply to quality footwear. A properly shaped sole and natural leather support healthy foot development in childhood, and Blundstone meets this standard even in the smallest sizes.
Blundstone children’s shoes are exactly the same as the adult version: same construction, same leather, same durability. They differ in size, not in quality.
Concept Story is the sole retailer of Blundstone children’s shoes in Slovakia. If you’re looking for children’s sizes, you’ll find them exclusively at our high-street shop in the centre of Bratislava, where children can try them on in person, or in our online collection of children’s shoes.
Why try Blundstone in person
With Blundstone boots, the fit matters more than with most ordinary footwear. The sturdy sole and the structure of the Chelsea-style design mean that the boot moulds itself to the foot in a certain way — and this will feel different for every type of foot.
Concept Story is the only high street shop in Slovakia where customers can try on Blundstone boots in person across the full range: women’s, men’s and children’s sizes. An added bonus is the use of half sizes, which Blundstone employs not for length but for the width of the shoe. This is precisely what allows for a much more precise fit according to the specific foot type and significantly improves comfort when wearing the shoes.
Each model has a different internal shape; some are better suited to narrow feet, others to wider feet. Our colleagues in the shop work with these models every day and know the differences between them well. You can find the entire collection of Blundstone boots on the Concept Story online shop. If you’d like advice on choosing the right pair or to compare models in person, please visit us at our shop in the centre of Bratislava.
